Helping Haiti
January 30, 2010
so, I kinda felt inspired after some reading i’ve been doing to write a blog about my thoughts on Haiti and our United States. People are getting mad in the united states b/c we are giving Haiti all this money. And i’m not sayin that I completely agree with all the money we are giving b/c US is no doubt in dept by more money then we might ever have again. BUT thats no reason why US people can not donate if they wish, weither it be money, caned foods, clothes, health care needs, etc.
For one… WE DO NOT KNOW THE MEANING OF POVERTY! When you are “poor” here, you have the project housing, and section H housing, you have food stamps, you have assistance! Haiti poverty does not have food stamps! They are lucky to have a cow that month to kill for food, Have YOU ever had to kill for your food to make sure your family is fed? no we go buy stuf at our local grocery store with our FREE food stamps. And we may think the projects are bad but to most of Haiti, our projects are like our beverly hills! The projects have firm housing that must meet standard building regulations. (haiti doesnt have regulations, most of their poverty lives in a wood, or cerment block with a dirt floor and cover drapped over the top for a ceiling!). Much less RUNNING WATER in their “home”. and their water are far from filtered and simi cleaned before its ran threw our sinks and bath tubs and toliets. Their water is considered clean when its a light brown in color! So come on idiots! DO NOT talk bad about people who want to help a lower country.
People in the US are walking around saying they are poor but they go home to a firm house, and usually have a car, might not meet our perfect standards but at least you have a car. Often you will complain as you are on the INTERNET at your house! If you got internet, you are NOT poor, or TV or ANY electronics at ALL. Yes their are homeless but it makes me sick to see b/c I want to put them in my car and drive then to our local Center of Hope b/c they take in homeless and find them work and feed them and put clothes on their backs. In the US there IS hope for the homeless. you just have to WANT it. and not be a lazy ass that just likes to beg for money and get pitty.
Also we have checks for people who were hurts at work or who are handicapped our disabled, we have SSI and all kinda unemployment checks, free money that are met to help you in tough time that people take advantage of and LIVE off of for years which come from hard working peoples tax and pay checks!
I could go on and on with this but I have things to do.
I hope all is well and continues to be for you. I know the struggles first hand. Sounds like you are getting in a position where you can maintain. I hope a storm does not come your way. All the best.
